One of the Engines I always missed in SMR was a Shay, it was one of my favorite engines in RRT 2 and 3 in early steam era. :?
But now that I can make my own engines, it was just a matter of time for it :P

    This is a Model of a Shay Class-C 70-3 (3 engines, 3 trucks, 70 tons, Std. Gauge).
It is build after the Shay with serialnumber 2130 and influenced by some others, so I exchanged some parts (like the diamond shaped smokestack).

    Version 1.0:
      - complete new model and animation
      - painted as Croft Lumber Co. #2, the first Railroad of sn-2130
      - Polygon Count: 5473

    Notes:
Because of Realism the Shay is slower than the older Consolidation, to compensate that it has lower price and maintenance costs. Of course you can changed that in the XML to what you want ;)

    Enjoy

I have always liked the Shay as well. If it is allowed, http://www.arcadialogger.com/ here is one fantastic modeler in HO and many videos of action on his layout.

What is interesting is that my wife's sister's husband has property that comes up to the Betsie River, maybe 3 miles from Rt 115 and county line road, Co Hwy 602. My wife and I, along with our young family and other relatives, on numerous occasions, had canoed and tubed this great little river in Michigan, going back to the early 1970's My wife and I did it , alone, one winter day too and that was touch and go as needed to portage a couple of times and with snow and ice along the banks all the way, though is was beautiful, it was dangerous. Don't want to get wet. From Thompsonville, MI to the county line road, Benzie Cty and Co Hwy 602, takeout. West of Psutka Road. Went under some roads and maybe a railroad, but never saw a Shay, lol.

Anyway, these shays are a treat and fantastic job, Wingsofphoenix!!! I am enjoying your work, in every instance.

    Thanks,

    Larry
