Hi railfan, I just downloaded the Feed_Plant_2 industry in order to check it out. All of the required files are there including the Feed_Plant_2_nrml.dds file. It is possible you got some form of problem with your download so you might want to try it again. However, more than likely something happened in the transfer of files to your usermaps folder, or in the process of renaming files.

We've all been through this stuff while working with this game. It can be tough to make changes and get them to function properly sometimes. I would go back to your download with Explorer and look through the list of files. If the missing file is not there, download the file again - your missing file is in the 7zip file. Check your usermaps file for the missing file. Perhaps you accidentally renamed it in which case you must rename it within the nif file using NifSkope. Also, make sure that you have not misspelled something that was changed. Leaving even an Underline ( _) out will mess up your game.

Ah Slider38, the file was there, but the name was wrong. Another one of those screw ups of Firaxis, NORM and NRML. Both are basically the same file type, but I'm guessing done by different authors or groups, just like Build_Up and BuildUp. I thought I had used it in a map, but I've created many BBs that I've not used. :Hmmmmm but I do have an in-map picture of it. I might have repaired it in the SMR_Picture_Studio I use and not copied it back to the original. I've done that too.

    Here are the repaired files:

Has anyone seen this problem with the Wood Pulp Plant before? The woodchip pile to the side swallowed two of the houses. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Well, you could vacate the houses and next time the pile goes down, tear them down..... rolff

No, there is no real way. It it just one of those things. You could change it to out-of-city, that type of plant ain't to good in-city even in real life.

I have posted a new industry - a one floor structure which I hope will prove useful. I took Snoopy's shipping center and lowered the vertices to create a one floor facility. I think it should have many uses as a small manufacturer. It features a front door and windows on one end (small office or retail area) and one garage door and employee type entrance on the other. As an example I am using it as a small auto parts maker in the map I am currently working on:

Hi Folks, Thanks to some help from Snoopy, The BB_American_Milling Industry has been updated to provide a smaller file package. If you have downloaded the original you might want to grab this one as it should use less memory. Thank you Snoopy! !$th_u$!

I just wanted to thank Snoopy for his help on this. It would not have happened without his guidance. You are the Wizard! !$th_u$!

This is the One Floor Structure reduced in size to create a smaller footprint. This was initially the one floor structure but I got tired of seeing part of it sticking through another building. So I shrunk it down. I think this makes a better industry for use in-city.

    Glass Company.jpg

I am using this as a glass company. It features a cast concrete exterior and large recessed windows. This could be used for any small manufacturing company.

Here is my first attempt at an industry using Blender. It is supposed to be a concrete pipe plant - culverts and such. I started with the steel mill. I removed the buildings leaving the pouring furnace. I recolored the molten metal to look more like concrete to use the pouring furnace as a concrete mixer. I added a feed bin, concrete pump, piping, concrete pipe form, a pipe storage area and an office building. Two pics are attached along with the files. The pipe shape is not quite right and there are some other changes I want to make, but I am having trouble with the nif file format. I don't think the emsk, normal, or spec files are working. The plant is too dark and shaded. Changes I make in the emsk and spec file do nothing to improve the appearance. Would someone please look at the nif file and tell me where I went wrong. The animation works fine. The concrete mixer pours concrete into the receiver 2 or 3 times per minute. Any suggestions would be appreciated. - Griz

Looks like the TSpace Flag is set wrong. 16 if I recall correctly. Found in the details of the the NiTriShape or the NiTriShapeData. Good work though, keep it up!

Barney, Thanks for the suggestion, but I could not find a TSpace Flag anywhere. I changed all the NiNode and NiTriShape flags to 16 but it did not seem to do anything. I found the problem, though while looking for the TSpace flag in the TriShape details. My setup of Blender creates nifs with only diff file references and the line "Has Shader" is set to "no" in the NiTriShape details. When I changed this to "yes" and entered RRT_NormalMap_Spec_Env_CubeLight for the Shader Name, plus entered -1 for the Unknown Integer, it worked. Now the diff, spec, nrml and emsk files are being read and are working. Note in the attached pic the "lights" in the right-side windows of the office indicating that the emsk file is working. My emsk file is essentially all black with small white squares at these windows. The feed tank and office are now brighter indicating that the other files are working, too. Now that I have a nif file structure that is working I will make some changes in the Concrete Pipe Plant, then start on the annex and pipe car. - Griz

Go into View at the top, click on it and be sure Block Details is checked. Highlite the cylinder NiTriShapData (line 69) and in the Block Details you will find T Space Flag. yours is set to 0. Change it to 16. Do the same for the other 2 NiTriShapData lines, 18 and 36.

You are also missing the NiSkinInstance and NiSkinData for the Cylinder block. I've put these in before, but it's been to long for me to remember right now.

Snoopy, Thanks for your response. I have changed the flags to 16 in my latest version of the Concrete Pipe Plant. The NiSkinInstance is used only when a shape contains bones. The pouring furnace is a bone and it has the NiSkinInstance lines, but my new shapes have no bones and are not animated. - Griz
