You're welcome! As to the rest, hey, I use it, Barney is the one who decodes it for me, I was taking a guess on that part. A lot of it still confuses me to no end! :SMR

Thanks Grizzly. I did the herefords for my Four Corners map. Got tired of slaughtering holsteins for hamburger. I am going to be using them again in the map currently underway.

Hi Guys. I've run into a situation with my Livery Stable I really don't understand. This started out intending to be a city building. After much help from Snoopy it was determined that the odd results that I was getting resulted from the fact that you cannot have a city building that uses alpha. So, I decided to make it an in-city industry. I have done the horses good and the traincars for it. I realized however that I had forgotten to do the industry and report industry files. I went to take a couple of pictures on my map and found this ugly blurry mess.

This industry consists partly of the cannery, the stockyard and Rodea's horse. I put them together into one diff file. I don't think I've seen anything quite as screwy as this has turned out. I went back and looked at the normal file, but it looks ok. I have re-made the spec and emsk files. I looked at the UV map thinking maybe something was sideways or something, but the timber on the wood walls and the shingles on the roof only work one way. Has anyone seen anything like this before? The nif looks ok in NifSkope -

I'm at a loss as to what else to try. Any suggestions on how to clean this up would be appreciated. I have spent hours trying to figure out what I have done wrong here. Hopefully I will learn something from this catastrophe. Thanks

PM me a copy of the files.

Barney asked if you have layered it. It needs to be. Something comes to mind also - before you started editing the existing buildings you worked it from, did you do a 'Copy Visible' to get the image?

Sorry about the files. We were trying to get granddaughter (2 yrs old) to bed last night when I was trying to get this posted and while I had the zip prepared, I just didn't get it added to the post in all the confusion.

As to layering, I don't know what you mean. I am familiar with layers in my paint program, though I have rarely done anything with it. I don't understand how that would apply to a project like this. I copied the parts needed from the various diffs - cannery, stockyard for the fence and rodea's horse dds and created a new diff. Actually I initially combined it with a green 2-story building when I intended to make it a city building. Once I went the industry route, I just combined the horse files in the diff area where the green building was.

I did not use copy visible on these files. I only use Gimp for making normal maps. I use my Paint Shop Pro for all my painting. It's old, but I am used to it. Again, I guess I don't understand what I gain by using that command. I simply cut and paste the sections of the existing diffs to create the new one and then redo the UV. I really don't understand why I am getting this blurry result. I may have to go get some of the old files out of the recycle bin and try and figure out where things went sideways on me. I have a LOT of old files from this project - small steps along the way. Anyway, thanks for looking at this for me.

OK. I don't want anyone spending too much time on this. I've fooled with this off and on for 3 days now. I was testing older versions of this livery stable and getting the same results. I finally loaded the games regular cannery for a test. It looked like this:

    cannery.jpg

    Look familiar?

Either something wierd is going on with my map (I don't believe that!) or the problem may lie with the original cannery files. Anyway, it's not worth spending more time on. As to my livery stable, the industry itself works fine. The only real issue are the industry and industry report files - I can fake them, which is what I intend to do. So don't worry about this anymore. If it isn't worth my time, I'm sure it isn't worth yours. Thanks anyway.

    Hey, no problem, family first!!!!

You have them layered, so you're OK there. You can do a simple Copy in Gimp, but a while back I found that sometimes you would get images from paste work you did. Don't know the working of it, but it happened. I took to 'Copy Visible' to stay on the safe side.

As to your screen shots - what do you have your settings at? I ran mine up to 1600 x 900 and High on Textures and it comes out fine, at least for me.

    Livery.jpg

I'd get a closer look at it, but I have only gone in close 2 or 3 times in the last 4 years, and had to ask Barney how to do that rolff . Sorry, I just don't do any close screen shots. In-city or out-of-city, I do out-of-city shots. Keeps the clutter out of the pic. Give me the keys to go in close and I'll post them in front of me!

Oh, your Livery crashed first run...... I had changed the Horse to Coal, but the game still crashed. 'None' is not accepted as an Input for In-city industries :rulz Don't worry about it tho, I should have seen it when I installed it. Hard Labor

Also, I scaled the DDS to 1024x1024. Details just might be better at that scale. Remember, you are doing an Industry and what you used was a city building.

Looking at your above shot, check your computers screen settings. I've played games that change that but don't change it back.

I had to do a repair on the Old Stone Bank file. It had a bad icon which has been repaired. Not enough testing I guess. Sorry for any inconvenience caused. The corrected zip has been posted in the Industries Are Us forum.

Hi Guys, For the last 2 or 3 weeks I have been working on a new industry which will go into my next map - "Minnesota Rail". This is a preview of the Barge Terminal. I may make a few adjustments to it before it is done, but until I can actually get some real testing done, it's just too soon to know. Got a few days away for a little fishing, but I should get started on the annex by the end of the week.

That looks nice, would go well with the port I'm working on. The port is finished though, but could use some adjustments with the scale as it's a little large in game. Then I just got to finish up work on the 40 and 53 foot containers, I might skip the 20 foots. I do have a part time job no, and still in high school, and a little tired, so production time is a little limited.

Maybe I'll try to work on some more containers tomorrow.
    :night

Hmm, Slider38, me and you can expand this game's shipping industry, just a thought :Hmmmmm

Thanks Railfan. I still have to get this fully tested. Some adjustments will probably be needed. And I would like to get the size down a bit. A work in progress. As far as expanding the shipping industry, this barge terminal could easily be used for sand, gravel, anything a clamshell bucket would be used for removing the cargo. I intend to post the barges seperately so if someone wanted to develope a barge for hauling other products like chemicals or scrap metal, they would have a starting point. Anyway, I still have to work on the annex.

I like the look of that port you made. A nice addition to the game.

Well, after a week of fooling around with this annex, I finally came to the conclusion that simpler might be better. And I decided I really didn't care for the coal pile - I think it was just adding vertices for no particular gain. So, I finally settled on this:

With Snoopy's help I have finally reached the end of the saga. This is what it was intended to look like all along. I used a screw and shaft for lifting the coal to the upper hopper in the annex.

I finally got my axle maker industry built to go with my crane car annex. I think it's interesting.

Now I need a train car, but that may have to wait until I get a few more industries built.

Here's a preview of my cement plant. I've struggled with this for a while, but I think this is going to do the trick. Still need to create the icon and annex. Then there's the cement car........ That should be interesting.

Well, I've been fooling with this for what seems forever. Finally went for the Dragon "whalebelly" car for cement.

I went with a simple annex structure. Here, the cars are loading at the cement plant.
