My pleasure Bobby,

and depending on the amount of detail you require you can subset those DEM's down to what you need .... here is a google srtm4.1 kmz which will help you with finding a subset of those DEM's and all SMRT's for the world. Also you can subset the subsets right down to one 90m tile, hope you find this helpful mate.

cheers all.

Ok as Usual Microdem refuses to work with my computer and keeps throwing up errors left right and center so I will have to stick with the old fashioned way.. via Snoopy, Hard Labor , He has done all the TGA's for the maps I am making for Australia. But We Do need one for Victoria as yet, which he had made before but for some reason got messed up amongst all his files so he was going to redo it for me.

I would also love to Have 3Dmax but just can afford it as I am a Pensioner. And as for other Graphics Programs I am very limited to what I have at the moment.

Thanks for your efforts as well it is appreciated. And also over the next few weeks it will be a slow time for me as I have an Operation Due on Monday 24th May, and will be in hospital for the week and then will have more lost time recuperating after it. So sitting at my computer even now is an on and off thing as I have to take breaks from sitting around and leaning forward to use the Keyboard and mouse..

But Hopefully after it is all over and done with I can get back to doing things without the associated pain..

Any way back to work while i can...

We will all be looking forward to having you back on board and fitter than ever.

Re: the Victorian map ... how do you want it ... i.e. The whole of the state or broken down .... and what size map would you want it on?
It will only take a couple of min to do ...

All the best mate.

Thank you, I also hope so too. :yippey

The Victoria Map [the Whole state please] TGA I would like to be a size 15[225 sq. units 15x15 901x901 pixels] and a size 18 [324 sq. units 18x18 1081x1081 pixels]. As i would like to try and get a few of the rivers into it as well.. If you get it done you can zip it up and PM it to me that way I can work on it as time permits. I'm doing a QLD map at the moment and have been trying to add a few rivers to it using your way but with no success at the moment but I will eventually get there.. lamo

Thanks again for the well wishes and your :Helps, and i still have a few days to get things sorted out before Monday...

And heah thanks you posted as I posted.... will check it out but time for bed now..

Hi Brian, I never had any luck using microdem. I just find a topo map of the area I'm interested in and build my own with my paint program. This site looked promising for Canada http://canmaps.com/ I took this screen print from the USGS weather site. Perhaps this would work if you take your paint program and size it for what you want. Then grayscale it and you have a topo map. There's a lot of info out there.

that might work. I still have a long ways to go to figure out how to actually make a map from this though, but it is the right area, thanks!

can you please post a URL to that map? I can't seem to find that part of the USGS site that shows any of Canada. My goodness if I ever want to make a montana map though!!! Lots of USA info!

I just enlarged a section of western Canada and did a screenprint. I got started making a map by reading "Railroads: Creating Custom Maps" in the Wiki. I seem to refer back to it every time I start a new one. It takes long enough for me to complete one that I need to refresh my memory. :>)

Well I am about at wits end with trying to make a map. I've been scouring the internet for a few days trying to find a suitable image to greyscale. I haven't even got to the point where I would start to add/change or do things according to the wiki tutorial. I followed the "tutorial" on the map viewer and cant even get the map to display, nor can I even find this "view international" or "view united states" to begin with. (and before ya ask, yes I set my screen resolution to the correct one for viewing).

.......... lost in Canada. :(
