In this game, yes, it will work. That's not the best way to do it, but it will work.
In the opinion of a graphics editor, myself, it would be better to go in and change the look of an industry and change the name. In the case of the Cannery, I'd change the water to look like apples and have the fish removed from the box that it lifts. Then edit the color of the building, and you have it. You could also use the Factory as it has the boxes. The Refinery, the Chemical Plant, the Food Plant and the Brewery could also be edited a bit and used. I know you have the graphics abilities, so go in there and do a bit of editing. If it is the KFM and other files that you have problems editing, ask and I'll see if I can assist you in learning.

There is something wrong with the Casino_VanGogh_VO.94.nif file. That purple thing supposed to be the Casino.

I still had some problem with downloading the Pennsylvania passenger Car. After 4 tries i opened it in the forum, but it would not download to my machine.(It downloaded the opened file).

I took the Barn DDSs and made 6 new Farm BBs out of them.
Let me know if there are any problems.
I'm thinking about doing up a Farm BB in which there is a Decal. This could be used for billboard barns. Various Decals could be included and chosen by the user. Anyone interested?

If it is a TGA or a DDS file, That would be very nice.
It could make the farm bulding anything else.

Like "Bubba Snoopy's Gun Club and BBQ Pit"
Rodea has a roll around sign on his Bank and I could easily change it to anything I wanted.

Well, a gun shop or BBQ pit would look pretty funny with feilds and a tractor running around them and silos being built as they get larger.

The billboards were advertising put up by companies on farms along highways and the farmer was paid for allowing them to do it.
The decal is a DDs file. You could take a pic like is on that one in the jpg and make a decal out of it or just about any advertising sign with wethering added.
And it wouldn't have a moving sign, just a painted on sign.

In the Terrain Editor, trying to place a Blue Farm: getting an error message:
File missing: maize_farm_DIFF.dds.
The farm will get placed normally and will show in the game?
(As you can see just started a new map and trying to use new stuff)

Repaired.
Also looked over the rest of the Farms and repaired them
I don't want to be nit picky, but it would be nice to have date of revision with the industry.

The problem there is I could spend hours just writting up the edits I did. I just did around 25 BB edits, and not all of them were simple. A few I added the other three DDSs. The fact that the downloads is at none and there is a number with the new download shows it to you.
The whole thing is, the less in the post, the better the post looks. I kinda miss you downloading each new BB and letting us know of any errors. (hint hint)

This is the picture of the Distribution Center I have. (....and you too.) It is different at the BuildingBlocks
I would change, or completely eliminate the reference to the Terrainmap. <szTerrainmap>terrainmap_distributioncenter.tga</szTerrainmap> It is too rocky.
That seems to be a leftover from Basin and Range (I think)

Iron Mine troubles

I'm having trouble with the iron mine. I downloaded it and the iron ore good and put the writing in their XML document into the XML's for the goods and industries. I also placed all their .fpk, .dds, and .nif files in custom assets. I went into the game's terrain editor and tryed to add an iron mine into the game and it crashed. What happened? Am i supposed to write something in the names XML and if so what am i supposed to do.

Ok I just checked your
RRT_Scenario_User_Test.xml and in there you have listings wrong. In there you have
RRT_Goods.xml but the file is still named
RRT_Goods_Test.xml. So you have to fix that so both match, Rename the file RRT_Goods_Test.xml to RRT_Goods.xml in the RRT_Scenario_User_Test.xml to match and give it a run. There maybe more but that is just a quick look before i head to bed.
I also swapped out the FPKs for iron mine files from one of my other maps and got it running in the terrain editor. You are also missing listing for the traincar to haul Iron ore. And set the coal car for iron ore car.
Also got it running as well so you need to place at least 4 cities as well and finish of your xmls.

Let's do a short tutorial on the use of Building Blocks.
First the name, Building Blocks. Each separate Mod is a Building Block of it's own. But one, unedited, may depend on others. The Iron Mine depends on two other Building Blocks, Iron Ore and Iron Ore Car. The Iron Mine itself actual consists of two separate Building Blocks, an Industry and an Annex. Four Building Block that go in four separate XMLs.
Let's add an Iron Mine.
You have the first step correct, build your map. Next you save it and get out of the editor. Gather the the XMLs and files/folders you need for the Building Blocks you are using. One note here, you do not need to use CustomAssets for a map. Create a folder in UserMaps and call it (Map Name)_Warehouse for now. Place all files and folders from Building Blocks into this. (not the XMLs or JPGs tho) Since the game does not add the Depots XML to a map you will have to add it yourself. Rename it to match the rest of your XML files, the addition of the map name. Then go into the Scenario XML and find the line ' <DepotsXMLFile>RRT_Depots.xml</DepotsXMLFile> ' and edit this to match. Save it.
Now to the XMLs.
Let's start with the Industries XML. Copy the Industry section out of the Building Block and place it into the Industries XML and save. Next open the Depots XML and add the Annex part of the Industry and save. That second part will not be needed for In-City Industries.
Goods is next. Open your Goods XML and add in the Good(s) needed for the Industry. Save it.
The last is the one many people seem to forget, the TrainCars XML. The map will crash without them, dispatch just does not know what to do without a car to ship the stuff in. Open the TrainCars XML and add the car(s) needed for the Good(s) you added. Save it.
Now you can run the Editor and place the Industry you just added.
One important thing here, install one Industry Mod at a time! There have been people in the past who have added several in order to save time and ended up starting from scratch because the map kept crashing at startup or during play for no apparent reason. A few even gave up and posted what they had and never came back out of frustration.
As to your test map, as I see it, RRT_Goods_Test.xml appears OK. RRT_Industries_Test.xml looks OK also. You do not have it placed, but I believe that is because of the missing Iron Ore Car, the Editor was crashing because of this. RRT_Depots.xml could cause a problem, as named. If you add an XML into a map, always add the name of the map to it, and edit the Scenario file to show this change as explained above.
I do believe if you simply add the Building Block for the TrainCar to your map, it should let you place the Iron Mine.
One other thing, when you play with these XMLs, put your Mods either at the bottom of the section they go in, or at the top in all of the XMLs. And always do the 'Pretty Print (XML only - with line breaks) ' when you are messing with them. It makes them easier to read and edit.
Feed Plant troubles

So I'm working on a map and there's some troubles with the industries. I downloaded the Feed Plant 2 and I put all it's info into the xml document. I changed it's name to apple farm and set it to produce apples. I set it's annex in the xml file to the depotUS. I downloaded the apples good and got a box car to haul the apples. I go into the terrain editor and hit edit entities. I hit add industry and select Apple Farm, since i renamed it, and i hit ok. Then the Feed Plant 2 (or Apple Farm) popped up in the game and just before it crashed to the desktop i caught a glimpse of a small error box that said error reading feed plant 2 norm dds document. What happened it was shown in the game? Can somebody post the fixed dds files if there is something wrong with it?
